One thing’s for certain as we head into 2021- elopements and backyard weddings are a major thing and they’re not going anywhere! In fact, this wedding combines both! Nature lovers and creatives, Dallas + Luke knew they wanted to elope in a way that allowed them to enjoy nature, while still being able to put their personal twist on the decor and look of the day. When they found The Bamboo Garden House on AirBnb, they knew it was the perfect place to say “I DO”. They share:
We dreamt of a location that would bring us serenity and completely immerse us in nature free from the usual distractions that society offers. When we stumbled upon the Airbnb it was like the stars had aligned us with everything we wanted and more. We let the modern architecture and its enchanted woodlands guide us down a rabbit hole and into a wonderland that perfectly fit our vision. After feeling completely comfortable in our newly found wonderland we were free to focus on each other and every little moment that the day presented us.
Candle & Quill Photography was there to capture the intimate beauty of the day. Ready to take a look?
Bohemian Wedding Decor Elements
L looked every bit the dapper meets edgy groom in all black attire from ASOS.
Sweet Stems Flower Bar designed the perfect elopement bouquet in romantic jewel tones. We love the fun macramé handle wrap too!
Eloping at an Airbnb
The most memorable moment of our wedding day for me was saying our vows. I was SO excited to be saying them that I accidentally said “I do” too soon, followed by a quick expletive under my breath and some nervous laughter. Luke thought my eagerness was cute and endearing but I was admittedly pretty embarrassed to have messed that up. However, being able to kiss him as my husband for the first time melted all my worries away.
They did it! Here come the newlyweds!
A Pre-Owed Gown for a DIY Elopement
D + L gave great attention to bringing in the exact details they wanted to tell the story of their day. D searched for months to find her dream gown from Wilderly Bride by Allure Bridal ‘Marigold’.
I searched on Stillwhite for eight months until I found the exact dress I was looking for in my price range. The dress belonged to a lovely lady from the UK. She’s two inches shorter than me, so I knew it was a bit of a gamble but my intuition told me it was the one. My seamstress was an absolute magician and took it from there.
Finding the Perfect Airbnb for their Wedding
Although this Architectural award-winning home is no longer listed on Airbnb, there are still countless other rentals that service small weddings and elopements. Be sure to check out our tips for How to Host an Airbnb Wedding.

If eloping has crossed your mind, follow your heart. The love you share with your future spouse should be celebrated in its own unique way. When combined with a clear vision and a bit of careful planning eloping can afford you a certain level of control and chillness that can sometimes be harder to achieve with larger weddings.
An Intimate DIY Elopement Reception
After the ceremony and photoshoot, D + L sat down to a delicious spread picnic-style.
They enjoyed a charcuterie display board and scrumptious cake and cookies baked by the bride herself, The Cupcake Shoppe Raleigh.
Just look at that rad icing treatment!!!
When the bride is a pastry chef, you know the wedding will be just the sweetest! Congratulations Dallas + Luke! We hope your DIY elopement will help inspire other couples who are looking to embrace smaller, more intimate celebrations!
